  • Valid NJ Certified Education Facilities Manager (CEFM) or ability and willingness to obtain within two years of employment; Black Seal License required.
  • Strong Knowledge base and hands on experiences in maintenance, custodial, groundskeeping needs, construction, engineering, plant operation, policies, procedures current laws and regulations.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, air quality, PEOSH, AHERA, Right-To-Know laws, building codes and state and federal OSHA and environmental codes.
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance regarding safety and security issues maintenance, custodial and groundskeeping in an educational environment.
  • Ability to use computers and database software and workflow processing programs to keep necessary records in an organized and accessible manner.
  • Possess a valid NJ Motor Vehicle Driver’s License
  • Completion of physical and satisfactory criminal background check required

VACANCY NOTICE: SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
Mount Arlington (K-8) School District (Morris County, New Jersey)
Start Date: On or about July 1, 2026 

The Mount Arlington Board of Education seeks an experienced, thoughtful, and child-centered educational leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools  to lead our PreK–8  district which serves approximately 364 students. The Mount Arlington School District has two schools located in the Borough of Mount Arlington, NJ. We are a small stable suburban town with an exceptionally supportive  parent  community located on Lake Hopatcong. The Board seeks a candidate who will demonstrate the following Qualifications.

Qualifications: 

  • New Jersey School Administrator Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (required)
  • Principal experience (preferred)
  • Central Office experience (preferred)
  • Classroom teaching experience (preferred) 

The Successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Curriculum & Instruction, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs.
  • Encourage meaningful parent involvement as partners in student success.
  • Capacity to foster collaborative relationships and effective governance practices.
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership in fiscal management and long-range planning.
  • Execute effective personnel management, including hiring top talent and motivating, developing, and evaluating staff.
  • Lead with transparency and a student-first mindset.
  • Have excellent communication skills.

The Board of Education expects to offer a salary in the range of $170,000 to $185,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications and a competitive benefits package including sick leave, vacation days, personal days, health insurance, dental/vision insurance, and professional membership dues, to be determined. It is anticipated that the total compensation package will be regionally competitive and based on successful experience and education.
