Health and P.E. Opt Out
The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) permits parents/guardians to request that their child be excused from specific portions of the Comprehensive Health and Physical Education curriculum that conflict with their sincerely held moral, religious, or conscience beliefs, in accordance with New Jersey law (N.J.S.A. 18A:35-4.7).
Parents/guardians who wish to request an exemption must complete and submit the district's Health and Physical Education Opt-Out Request Form. Please note that:
- A separate form must be completed for each student.
- The request applies only to the current school year and must be renewed annually if you wish your child to continue to be excused from eligible instruction.
- Students who are excused from specific lessons will be provided with an appropriate alternative educational activity during the instructional period, as determined by the school.
