Dear Students and Parents,
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Dr. Jane Mullins Jameson, the former Mount Arlington Superintendent of Schools. Currently, I have been serving as the Interim Superintendent of Schools in-district for this past summer.
My tenure began in Mount Arlington as Principal in 1999. I served in that role through the 2002-2003 school year. In the Fall of 2003, I was appointed Superintendent and remained in that role through October of 2016, at which time I retired. This past Spring, when the Board of Education asked me to return as Interim, I was both honored and humbled. Mount Arlington Public Schools have always held a piece of my heart, so it was an easy “Yes” for me.
Since I currently live in south Florida, it was not possible that I join you for the entire school year, as you need a Superintendent of Schools present in the district on a daily basis. My work over this past summer has been conducted both remotely and in person. Thank goodness for Google Meet, as it has allowed me to be present when I was not physically there. What a busy summer it has been!!
Upon my departure in September, Dr. Thomas J. Ficarra will be joining the district as Interim Superintendent of Schools and he will remain in-district throughout the course of the school year. Dr. Ficarra is also a former Mount Arlington Superintendent of Schools. He served as Superintendent from through 2002. Therefore, he was a logical choice in guiding the district to a successful future.
In this time of transition, both Dr. Ficarra and I are proud to once again serve the community of Mount Arlington. It has been a busy summer and a joy to return to a place I love so much. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Ficarra back to Mount Arlington!
